Are you a 6 but want to be a 4? The higher your score the better your business opportunities. Too often you have undertaken the right broad-based activities but end up with 1 or 2 BEE levels below what you deserve. Maybe you did not document your activities correctly, maybe you did not keep a good enough record of your training, maybe you did not realise that a contribution could earn you ED or SED points, so you never claimed it. A giant multi-national had already been verified as level 7 before we were appointed. During our sales meeting they mentioned the name of a South African company that held a small number of shares in their business. We told the potential client that they should have been a 6 due to 2.3 points that should have been earned on ownership. We were appointed, and immediately asked for a re-verification for ownership. The re-verification indeed yielded a genuine level 6.
